Heraclitus of Ephesus
(ca. 544 - 480 B.C.)

Also known as The Obscure, Heraclitus was rarely understood and often ignored because of his aphoristic discourse. It is likely he believed fire was the arjé. He extends his influence until modern times, for instance, in Spengler or Nietzsche.
